Anti Ragging Policy
AICTE / UGC Regulations as per the Directives of the Supreme Court:
 
As per the current order of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India/ Medical Council of India/ the following should be noted by all candidates and their perents/ guardian.
 
Ragging in any forms is strictly forbidden. Ragging is defined as "Any disorderly conduct whether by words spoken or written or by an act having an effect, Treating or handling with rudeness any other student, including any rowdy or indisciplined activity which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in a fresher or a junior student or asking the students to do any act or perform something which a student will not do in the ordinary course and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of a fresher or a junior student".
 
Ragging constitutes one or more of any of the following acts:
  • Every student for the purpose of his/her admission to the institution shall furnish a character certificate from the institutions.
     
  • Where from he/she has passed his qualifing examination, Which would mention the status of his/her behavioral pattern specially in terms as to whether he/she displayed persistent violent or aggresive behavior or any desire to harm other.
     
  • Any conduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student.
     
  • Such a self- undertaking shall be furnished in English as well as in vernacular (mother tounge of the parent) at the beginning of each academic year by year student.
     
  • An annual self-undertaking signed by each student, whether fresher or senior and his/her perent(s) jointly stating that each of them have read the relevant instruction/ regulations against ragging as well as punishments and that if the candidates has been found gulity he/she be proceeded against, shall be procured.
     
  • Indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities by any student or students which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship, physical or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in any fresher or any other student.
     
  • Asking any student to do any act which such student will not in the ordinary course do and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame, or torment or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of such fresher or any other student.
     
  • Any act by a senior student that prevents, disrupts or disturbs the regular academic activity of any other student or a fresher.
     
  • Exploiting the services of a fresher or any other student for completing the academic tasks assigned to an individual or a group of students.
     
  • Any act of financial extortion or forceful expenditure burden put on a fresher or any other student by students.
     
  • In case of victum of ragging his/hir parents is not satisfied with the action taken by the Head of the institution it shall be mandatory for the institution to File First Information Report with the local police authorities.
     
  • In order to ensure the 'ragging free environment' in the campus, Institution has the authority to punish the students and to take the action on it.
     
  • Any act of physical abuse including all variants of it sexual abuse, homosexual assaults, stripping, forcing obscene and lewd acts, gestures, causing bodily harm or any other danger to health or person.
     
  • Any act or abuse by spoken words, e-mails, posts, public insults which would also include deriving perverted pleasure, various or sadistic thrill from actively or passively participating in the discomfiture to fresher or any other student.
     
  • Any act that affects the mental health and self-confidence of a fresher or any other student with or without an intent to derive a sadistic pleasure or showing off power, authority or superiority by a student over any fresher or any other student
     
  • The aggrieved students are free to report any incidents of ragging to any member of the ragging anti Ragging Committee by either writtent communication, telephone, SMS all efforts will be made to keep the name of the reporting person confidential.
     
  • The names and telephones number of the member of this committee will be provided to the students so after admission.
     
PUNISHMENTS:
 
    Depending upon the nature and gravity of the offence as established, the possible punishments  for those found guilty of ragging at the institution level, shall     be any one or any combination of the following :
  • Suspension from attending classes.
     
  • Debarring from appearing in any test/examination or other evaluation process.
     
  • With-Holding results.
  • Suspension/expulsion from the hostel.
     
  • Cancellation of admission.
  • Expulsion from the institution and consequent debarring from admission to any other institution.
  • Fine ranging between Rs. 25,000/-.

   Collective punishment:

       when the persons committing or abetting the crime of ragging are not identified, the institution shall resort to collective punishment as a deterrent to                      ensure community pressure on the potential ragger.
